Phil Vassar came to Nashville ten years ago from his hometown of Lynchburg, Virginia, where he'd been studying Business Administration at James Madison University. He's been performing and writing songs ever since.
Phil was signed to EMI Music Publishing in 1996. He's had songs recorded by Alan Jackson, Tim McGraw, Sons of the Desert, Jo Dee Messina, Diamond Rio and BlackHawk to name a few. His 1998 chart successes include singles "Postmarked Birmingham" (BlackHawk), "Little Red Rodeo" (Collin Raye), and "For A Little While" (Tim McGraw). "Bye Bye" and "I'm Alright" by Jo Dee Messina reached #1 on the singles charts as well as Alan Jackson's "Right On Money".

Phil was named 1998 Billboard "Songwriter of the Year," as well as "Songwriter of the Year," and Music Row Magazine "Breakthrough Writer of the Year."

Phil's debut album on Arista Records was produced by Byron Gallimore. Phil penned all 11 songs on his upcoming debut. The first single, "Carlene," will be released November, 1999. Look for his self-titled album to be released in February, 2000!
